WHAT A DAY!
First day of class = CRAAAAZY. I’m kinda exhausted from today, but I know I have to blog about it.

Look at me being all anime-ey! A friend of mine who speaks Japanese is crashing in my room tonight. She’s SUPER AWESOME!

GODDAMMIT, ERIC WHY ARE YOU GOOD AT LEDES/INTROS!? I realized this weekend that I suck as a funny writer. I might be amusing in person, but not on paper. I’m good at being sorta straightforward though. Maybe?

And that’s that!
More substantial post coming someday.
Oh my Lord, today was insane.
Main events:
- Doctor’s appointment. Was 40 minutes late to my appointment, got lucky because someone canceled. Had an ear flushed out, but I still need an OTC cleanser thing. Got a prescription, going back next week for bloodwork. Hopefully I’m not anemic.
- Shopping for dorm. Went to Linens n’ Things and snagged some bedding, pillows, a waste basket and more! The cashier was super nice and gave me 20% off the entire purchase and honored a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon. Oh my God, yay.
- Beacon Boot Camp.
Attended a few seminars about the newspaper. Missed the bulk majority of it because of the aforementioned errands. I wish I could’ve gone, but I luckily have some almost-pilfered notes from a friend of mine that I’ll type up for kicks. These sessions were incredibly informative! I’m so excited for the upcoming issue!
Highlight of the Boot Camp? The New York Post myth about an unfortunate headline regarding a piano accident…
- Dinner at Friday’s with Beaconites. This was fun. Stuffed myself silly with food from Friday’s. Deliciously cheap Friday’s. I had pot stickers, pasta and brownie goodness. And yaaay, strawberry lemonades.
GOOD NEWS: I GOT THE JOB!
I’ll be assistant opinion editor to one Eric, a.k.a. Ercirageous. Visit his awesome blog, it’s totally new!
Time to collapse now.
… don’t ask about the title of this post.
So! How are we all doing tonight?
I am peachy keen. Here’s what I did today:
- Made breakfast for my stepdad (loaded scrambled eggs, if you must know)
- Wrote two articles for Associated Content [one of them was featured on the front page, huzzah - see proof below! ("National Night Out" story)]
- Ate sushi and Thai food for lunch (OH MY LORD THE WAITER DIDN’T COMPLETELY SUCK BALLS THIS TIME!!!)
- Went to the grocery store and bought one pound of ham, Cuban bread, frozen dinners, frozen tortellini, a jar of vodka sauce (for said tortellini) and shampoo
- Came home and… what did I do? I honestly don’t remember
- Drafted an outline for the writing club I’m starting in the fall
- Started laundry
WHAT AN EXCITING LIFE I LIVE.
OH! I drew Joker fanart, because I can:
Gotta love WACOM tablets and Photoshop!
This is such a spaztacular blog entry, really. I promise to write something of actually merit next time.
I will say, though, that life is going a-okay.
Okay, folks … since insomnia has struck, I think I’ll write for a little while. All right, so I look a little crazy here. But posts become instantly more exciting with pictures, so here you go. This is me being crazy. I don’t usually have straight hair, but it comes out nice when it is. But I do know how to rock curly hair sometimes. And it can get insanely curly. Thing is, it tends to frizz out pretty quickly, so I have to be careful when I manage it. Ah, and as you can see here, I have pink glasses. At least once a month, someone notices, “Oh my God! Your glasses are PINK!” I’m due for new ones, though … I can’t wait to pick out a new pair.
What else … oh, yes! I like to cook. A lot. One of the main reasons why I’m dorming in the fall is because I would have my own kitchen (to share with other roommates, yes, but the odds of college students who cook on campus seems minimal). This here is a slice of a quesadilla I made my for a picnic with co-workers (school newspapers for the win!). These were pretty much devoured in relatively quickly, but they were a huge hassle to make. Then again, I shouldn’t have made these at 8 in the morning … nothing like the smell of hot oil to wake ya up!
Another one of my dishes I cooked. Seared pork tenderloin with onions and mushrooms. It was the first dish I tried with my formerly brand new cast iron skillet from Logic (best o’the best, I tell ya), and my GOD, this was delicious. The pork had a tinge of pink on the inside, and very juicy. I think I garnished this with some fresh rosemary too. After I got this skillet I bought Cookwise by Shirley Corriher, which is a great read. I was inspired to cook for myself and to learn how to cook by this wonderful blue-eyed Southern man:
Ain’t he dreamy? (sigh) … oh, hello? Sorry. Ahem. OK, so Alton Brown of Good Eats and Feasting on Asphalt fame is probably the most anal cook to ever exist. But still! I own two of his books and find them very easy to read, understand, and fun to flip through. My favorite page is the diagram of the pig with its cuts clearly labeled.
Since I was supposed to be in bed a while ago, I’ll end this post with one of my four dogs, acting like a Nazi in his sleep. (Just see for yourself!):
Good night!
